Some houses are simply properties. Others define you and make you feel that you belong. This is one of those homes. Situated in Santareme, just 230 meters from the sea, this spacious home has been part of our lives for many years. It has provided room for family and friends, peaceful mornings, changing views and the simple pleasure of living close to nature. Leaving it will not be easy. Not because the house is perfect - it isn’t - but because we have grown to love the life we have lived here. We love the lovely trees, natural fynbos, and indigenous thicket. We love the birds that visit the reserve around us and announce the start of each day. We love watching the changing colors of the sea and mountains and appreciate that the views feel natural and authentic or lying on the bed and watching clouds drift past, changing shape as they move over the sea. Approximately 70% of the home enjoys sea and mountain views. They change constantly with the weather, seasons and light, becoming part of everyday life rather than something to be taken for granted. The home at a glance • Just 230 meters from the sea • Sea and mountain views from approximately 70% of the home • Five large bedrooms • Four garages and ample storerooms • Three levels, creating space, privacy and separation • Stairs between the levels, which should be considered by buyers seeking single-level living • Surrounded by mature trees, natural fynbos and indigenous thicket • Abundant birdlife and natural surroundings • Solar power • A rainwater-harvesting system successfully used by the household for the past 10 years • Generous living areas for family and entertaining A true assessment of the value We want to present the property open and transparently. The photographs were taken with my cellphone and are intended to provide a genuine, unembellished impression of the home. The house is not newly renovated, and buyers should expect areas that require refreshing, modernising and general maintenance. We would rate the current condition of the maintenance and finishes at approximately 6.5 out of 10. This should be taken into account when considering the property and its asking price. The features that are difficult, if not impossible, to recreate are already here: - The position. - The luxury of space. - The ever-changing sea and mountain views. - The mature trees, fynbos and indigenous thicket. - The birdlife that announces each new day. - And the proximity to the ocean. Over the years, we have also enjoyed living more simply and independently, with solar power and rainwater harvesting supporting our household. Strong value in a sought-after setting At the asking price, the property works out at approximately R14,200 per square meter, including the stand. We believe this represents strong value for a home of this size and position in Santareme, particularly for buyers who appreciate generous accommodation and natural surroundings. A home we will genuinely miss This house has never been perfect, and we would not want to pretend otherwise. But it has been our home, and a privilege to live here. Our family has cycled and run through the area, explored its many interesting pathways, and walked down to the sea. We have also valued the peaceful community and the area’s strong sense of security. Over the past 10 years, crime has been very low, to the best of our experience. The small community is closely connected, with installed cameras linked to an emergency-response service. The neighbours are kind, caring and supportive, often looking out for one another in a way that feels more like family than a typical neighborhood. The roads have also recently been resealed, tidying up the appeal and neatness of the area. We are moving because life changes and difficult decisions sometimes have to be made — not because we have stopped loving this place. The home has simply become too large for two people. A real home. In a beautiful natural setting. With space, views, and the sea close by. We hope the next owners will see the immense connection with nature and our surroundings. We will be leaving because life sometimes requires change — not because we have stopped loving this home, and perhaps that is the greatest compliment we can give it.
