Shortlisting applicants
Flag your strongest applicants to focus your decision — privately.
Last updated 2026-07-21
A popular listing can draw many applications. Shortlisting helps you separate the ones worth pursuing from the rest, without losing anyone.
How it works
- Open your applicants and flag the ones you want to focus on.
- The shortlist is a simple marker, not a status the applicant sees — it's private to you and your team. Applicants aren't notified and can't tell whether they've been shortlisted.
- Filter your list to just the shortlist to compare your top candidates side by side.
Using it well
- Do a first pass and shortlist anyone who looks promising.
- Run income verification or screening on the shortlist to confirm affordability and history.
- Make your decision from the verified shortlist, and move your chosen applicant to the lease.
Why it's a flag, not a stage
Keeping the shortlist private and non-committal means you can shortlist generously and change your mind freely — nobody is told they're "in" until you actually choose them. It's a working tool for you, not a promise to the applicant.
